January, 2017. Shemekia Copeland, who just gave birth to Johnny Lee Copeland-Schultz on Christmas Eve, is nominated for a Blues Music Award –Contemporary Blues Female Artist. The 38th ceremony revealing the winners will be held on May 11 at the Cook Convention Center in Memphis, Tennessee.
Shemekia won that same category in 2016 after the release of Outskirts of Love. Her acclaimed eighth album, released by Alligator Records in September 2015, was also nominated for a Grammy Award.
